Katona József Library, Kecskemét
introducing ILS, expanding the range of services
We had the opportunity to work with the Katona József Library in Kecskemét on this project, as they chose the Qulto collection management software. From the summer of 2024 on, the library continues its professional work with the Qulto Library software, replacing the integrated system it was using using before, thus significantly expanding the range of its digital services. Cooperation with a local provider was an important criterion in the selection process, which is why the library and Monguz Ltd. started working together in May 2024.
After the technical transiton to the new system and migration of their existing data, the institution was able to use it in a live system. As a next step, introduction of enhancements directly available for users – such as advanced search capabilities for online content and access to services via mobile devices – took place. This will be extended with the possibility of browsing
- online journals,
- e-books,
- the local video library,
- and integrating payment feature in the application.
The development has made a future set up of a book vending machine in the library possible (modelled on parcel lockers), to ensure 24-hour access to documents. In addition, a key objective was to improve the presentation and accessibility of local history collection in a way that would also support tourism. This way, while preserving the rich cultural heritage, searchability, accessibility and links to cultural tourism will be improved, as well. To fulfill this aim, the migration of the collections and the construction of the related knowledge network was completed by 20 August 2024 and the video sharing interface was launched – the digitised materials of the Kecskemét Television video archive will soon be available on the library interface.
