The external exhibition site of The Museum of Military History, The Pákozd Military Memorial Park gives home to this special application developed by Qulto – it is a FPS (First-Person-Shooter) game evoking the Pákozd-Sukoró Battle, the technological base of which is provided by a kinect camera. Some historical objects from the museum’s collection have been 3D scanned and inserted in the game. From all these objects, the biggest role have been given to bayonets that players can learn to handle and fight with in the camp – only virtually, of course. The Hungarian Military Forces was formed on the fields of Sukoró, Pákozd and Páka. Members of the then developing basic troops were the first ones to be called patriots i.e. Hungarian soldiers defending their nation.

With the help of our virtual game visitors can have a better understanding of how it would have felt to fight for their country about 170 years ago in a face-to-face battle. Detailed description of the historical events, weapons, objects, uniforms, and the unusal vocabulary used in the military camps all help the players to submerge in those times. At the request of the museum, the latter collection have been displayed on a touchscreen terminal in the form of a virtual exhibition.

Qulto developed an interactive game for the Kecskemét International Airshow, organised by The Museum of Military History in 2013. The terminal, which was built into a plane, consisted of a kinect camera which detects the opening and closing of player’s palms. We customised and adapted the different types of thematic games to this technology. Considering the special conditions of the event and the exhibition venue, quick and simple kinds of games had to be included in the application so that as many visitors can try the terminal as possible, and also to let people finish a game in a short time. Games having aeronautical topics: puzzle, find the match, quiz. These thematical games bring the history and technology of the topic closer to visitors.

Városfoglaló mobile app

The main concept of the game is to teach and distribute knowledge related to local history and culture.  Your mobile device shows a map on which certain areas have to be seized by giving correct answers to the culture related questions. Visiting the given area increases your chances while playing the game as the questions cover the local sights – famous buildings or statues. Also, aid is given in the form of descriptions, fun-facts and images, and your performance can be shared on Facebook in the end. The GPS data of your mobile’s location enable the system to determine about which area the questions should be about. Also, small tags on the map that mark the sights included in the game serve you as an exciting and „smart” guide in the city.

The ODR (The National Document Supply System) is the centre of library services and has been operating since 1998. The system aims at making document service fully available to patrons of registered libraries in it. Such institutions are the national library, special libraries, state university libraries and county libraries. Besides inter library loan services, the ODR includes the location catalog of library documents, as well.

Within the frames of a TÁMOP project, in 2010-2011 our company developed and successfully launched a new system which enhanced the communication and cooperation between the libraries. New functions such as invoicing, statistics, workflow planning and monitoring were introduced. After the second phase of development, inter library loan requests became available for patrons as well through the online surface, where the status of each loan request can be tracked.

MOKKA is the shared catalogue of the Hungarian national, scientific, academic libraries, and the institutions (county and city libraries) providing central services. Its main scope is the elimination of redundant cataloging practices. Libraries can both upload and download their bibliographic records, which are deduplicated by MOKKA – thus the final result of such a process is a standard, coherent register for Hungarian libraries. The bibliographic database includes more than 4 million records from 67 library collections. The project development phase included the process of metadata harvesting and the creation of search and retrieval functions. The National Document Supply System has integrated to the database more than 10 million record items together with loan status information. The project also included the development of inter library loan tools and library register workflows. Currently the system is managing 10 000 requests quarterly.
