The collaboration with the Baptist Union of Hungary, initially launched under the name Baptist Knowledge Base, later continued on several fronts, with varied goals, content and technical solutions.

Joint Baptist Library Catalogue – Qulto Library Project

The main goal of the innovation, which will extend over the coming years, is to modernise the libraries of the Baptist educational network in an adequate manner, in accordance with library professional standards and high requirements, to equip individual school libraries with uniform library software (shared OPAC, common barcode system, digital content, access to Ana/Baptist church history resources, facilitation of knowledge transfer, etc.), as well as to improve the physical condition and equipment of the libraries (new shelving systems, replacement of library furniture, etc.).

Repository

It is the document server of the Baptist Pedagogical Institute and its research workshop, whose main purpose is to archive the latest research results and Hungarian Baptist scientific materials and make them available free of charge.

Any form of electronic documents – preprints, working papers, published articles, MTMT2 attendance data, video and audio materials (radio/podcast materials), educational and teaching materials, and in the near future, theses and works related to degree acquisition (PhD, DLA, habilitation lectures) – are archived. In the medium term, it will become a disciplinary repository in order to collect publications thematically and serve Baptist scholarship with complex publication lists and bibliographies.

Ana/Baptist Resource Library

The project involves identifying, collecting, and digitizing Ana/Baptist manuscripts, publications, contemporary archival collections, documents, and missives, using optical character recognition (OCR) technology where possible. Its primary goal is to make these sources accessible to the public.

The project focuses on Baptist sources from before 1950, professional literature, handbooks, early Baptist theological literature, spiritual, congregational, and religious literature, as well as the collection, digitization, and accessibility of Baptist mission manuscripts and sources of Baptist literature. Through OCR, it effectively supports current and future Baptist research.

Baptist Knowledge Base / Qulto Museum

The aim of the project is to digitize the museum heritage of the Anabaptists/Baptists in Hungary and the Carpathian Basin, the digitization of accessible museum artifacts and material relics that can still be found, and their presentation in the Knowledge Base, with particular emphasis on the Hutterite heritage and the photographic heritage of Hutterite missionary history, congregational history, and pastoral life history.

Békehírnök 130 website

The website pays tribute to the 130th anniversary of Békehírnök, the magazine of the Baptist Union of Hungary, in 2025. Its aim is to present the complete content of the central periodical of Hungarian Baptists, with all its supplements published over time, as well as useful (jubilee) news, studies, information, and future databases about Békehírnök, thus facilitating future Baptist research.

Anabaptist manuscripts website

The primary goal of the website is to present high-quality digitized collections of Anabaptist manuscripts and manuscript fragments, to organize them according to their locations, and to make them available for complex research. It is particularly important for us to make Hungarian, Romanian, Austrian, Czech, Slovak, and Western European manuscripts, as well as Anabaptist manuscripts and manuscript fragments located in Eastern Europe and the Americas, uniformly accessible, thanks to research conducted in the near future.

Professor Martin Rothkegel and his colleagues’ academic collections of Anabaptist manuscripts found in Europe were a great help in creating this website. His work was published in book form in 2011: Katalog der hutterischen Handschriften und der Drucke aus hutterischem Besitz in Europa / bearbeitet von Matthias H. Rauen und Martin Rothkegel.
