Development of a personalised book recommendation service

The Méliusz Juhász Péter Library in Debrecen has recently further enriched the range of services available to its readers. In line with the library’s vision, readers can now browse additional recommended books on the institution’s website, based directly on their reading habits.

As a result of the development, after logging in, readers see a personalised list in the “Recommended for you” section. It draws on titles similar to the user’s borrowing history, new books, and books that are not new but have never been borrowed. To tailor the selection even more closely to the user’s needs, the results can be configured by adjusting the proportion in which each of these criteria is displayed.

Compiled from borrowing history, the list ensures that everyone can find a new read to suit their taste. The selected book can be reserved immediately through the website or by email.
