The project Emil Isac – the museum inside the library aims at building a unique point of access for an impressive collection of documents, photographs and objects related to the life and activity of a local writer, Emil Isac. The history of the museum begins in 2001, when the memorial house, initially hosted by the house where the writer lived, was closed. The collection of the memorial house became part of Cluj County Library patrimony. The library set up a small exhibition space, displaying the furniture, decorative objects and part of the documents. At the same time, the library staff started the digitization of the most important documents that were published, over the year, on various platforms (Omeka, Greenstone or the Qulto previous solution, Jadox). But the objects (paintings, furniture, various decorative objects) were not digitized yet.

In 2024, the library did the last step in digitizing the Emil Isac extensive collection, by cataloguing also the museum objects, in a database created in our museum management software, Qulto Museum. At the same time, all the previously digitized objects related to Emil Isac were converted to the same database, thus creating a database of 1500 records.

The database can be accessed by anyone, in the form of a rich and eclectic online catalogue, that gives the visitor a lot of information not only about the writer, but also about how political, cultural and everyday life was in Cluj, in the past century.

The project was completed by creating a webpage, presenting the life and work of the writer through several stories (created with our Qulto solution: Storytelling). Also, in order to enrich the visitor experience in the physical museum space, the library placed a touchscreen terminal offering details about the objects on display. For this terminal, the Q360 solution was used, allowing the library to convey a multitude of details and fragments of history related to the objects, in an interactive and intuitive way.

We provided IT support, project management and RFID tags for the inventory of the University of Pécs between August 2023 and April 2024. The University had previously followed a 3-year rolling inventory methodology, so the challenge was to organise the transition from this. To give a sense of the scale of the work at a numerical level: 307,000 items, 80 departments (10 faculties, Clinical Centre, several other autonomous departments), 260 buildings.

The highly complex task was solved by a division of labour within the group, with Avantázs Ltd. providing the organisational and project management tasks and our partner SmartFreq Ltd. supplying the RFID tags. Monguz IT support was required throughout the entire process, from preparation, to taking inventory, tracking progress, and then during the evaluation of the census to ensure successful completion.

In line with PTE’s internal rules and local conditions, the PTE Inventory Ticket Archive application was prepared for IT support. The solution enabled access/download of inventory tickets and related data through a single, online interface after authenticated login, thus significantly reducing the paper-based administration associated with the inventory process.

Although we are at home in the cultural heritage field, our current project is something special. We responded to the request of Salisbury Ltd., a renowned company in the field of archaeology and heritage protection in Hungary, when, after a 3-week preliminary design phase, we started developing the GeoTrans software in February 2024.

The Client – specialised in archaeological and conservation works – by applying state of the art technologies, provides services for all phases of archaeological and conservation works. In line with this, our custom development was designed to operate with geophysical survey data in several ways – processing, visualising, run filtering and placing data on a physical map prior to construction works. The results obtained can then be presented to Salisbury Ltd’s clients in the form of an impact study, enabling them to calculate the cost and time implications of any archaeological excavation required before groundworks begin.

We had the opportunity to work with the Katona József Library in Kecskemét on this project, as they chose the Qulto collection management software. From the summer of 2024 on, the library continues its professional work with the Qulto Library software, replacing the integrated system it was using using before, thus significantly expanding the range of its digital services. Cooperation with a local provider was an important criterion in the selection process, which is why the library and Monguz Ltd. started working together in May 2024.

After the technical transiton to the new system and migration of their existing data, the institution was able to use it in a live system. As a next step, introduction of enhancements directly available for users  – such as advanced search capabilities for online content and access to services via mobile devices – took place. This will be extended with the possibility of browsing

The development has made a future set up of a book vending machine in the library possible (modelled on parcel lockers), to ensure 24-hour access to documents. In addition, a key objective was to improve the presentation and accessibility of local history collection in a way that would also support tourism. This way, while preserving the rich cultural heritage, searchability, accessibility and links to cultural tourism will be improved, as well. To fulfill this aim, the migration of the collections and the construction of the related knowledge network was completed by 20 August 2024 and the video sharing interface was launched – the digitised materials of the Kecskemét Television video archive will soon be available on the library interface.

The temporary exhibition of the Military History Museum entitled ‘Hadimustra’ opened in Székesfehérvár at the end of May 2024. The 18-room exhibition features a wealth of artefacts, a spectacular timeline and digital content, providing an insight into the past centuries of Hungarian military history, from the struggle against Ottoman rule to the armaments of the Hungarian Defence Forces of today. It was our company’s task to display the above digital content in cooperation with the Institute. In the completed project, a total of 9 terminals bring to life the Hungarian weapons of different eras, the primary symbols of the armed forces and military service: flags, uniforms and medals, as well as the relics and documents of the everyday life and holidays of our soldiers.

Following the colour scheme of the exhibition spaces, each terminal, displayed in thematic rooms, has a unique landing page where visitors can immerse themselves in the exhibition through quizzes, 3D puzzles, a timeline battle map, a battle history game and a full-screen gallery with 3D elements.

In addition to the gamified content available on the touch screens, a responsive thematic portal (OPAC Liferay 7) has been created, including

also awaits those interested in the subject.

In January 2024, the Gyula Nagy Regional Museum was inaugurated, renewed with a grant of nearly 97 million Huf within the framework of the Hungarian Genius Programme of the National Cultural Fund. The permanent exhibition of the Endre Thék Memorial Hall, entitled Message of 280 Years – Our Past and Traditions, presents the history of Orosháza and the life and work of Endre Thék, who was connected to the settlement in numerous ways.

We were commissioned by the Nagy Gyula Regional Museum to create one of the interactive elements of the exhibition. The kiosk was programmed with a uniquely designed homepage, from which visitors can easily access the digital content of their interest – playful exercises (puzzles, quizzes, word searches) created with the help of our Education product, or archaeological and ethnographic information presented through Storytelling, as well as details about the life and work of Endre Thék.

Endre Thék’s school-leaving certificate, the agenda, floor plan of the apprenticeship home in Orosháza, videos and audio material, 3D recordings are also available on the touch screen terminal in the museum related to the exhibition.

When starting to use Qulto, the first efforts of the museum were focused on building the database, by putting together, checking, and migrating records from several formats. A lot of teamwork (Qulto team and MNIT professionals) was needed to customize and adapt the solution so that it fits as much as possible the standards and needs of the museum.

During recent years, the museum has put a lot of effort into opening as much as possible toward the public. The focus is shifting from object to human being; thus, each object becomes a story that helps the public understand the cultural identity of the area. With this approach in mind, the museum launched, in January 2024, the online catalogue of collections. The catalogue started with a small and carefully selected collection and continues to grow every day, as objects are revised for publication. The metadata associated to each record was carefully revised and unified by professionals. At the same time, on the software side, a lot of harmonization and customization work was involved (for publishing, hiding, renaming, or refining the way some fields are displayed).

All these contribute to offering a clean and smooth navigating experience and maximize the chances of retrieving the information visitors look for. The interface is focusing on the visual side, with responsive design interface and several ways of interacting with images (full-screen, crop, black and white). Sharing is also encouraged via link and multiple social media options.

But beyond that, the curious visitor will find genuine lessons of history and impressive, touching stories. A state-of-the-art museum catalogue that has a lot of pleasant surprises for professionals and the wide public alike.

The Selfie application is an interactive tool to complement the ethnographic exhibition of the György Thúry  Museum in Nagykanizsa, entitled “The more fancy, the more beautiful…” – The folk costume with loose skirts and pearl nets in Zala. The selfie, related to the theme of the exhibition, virtually dresses the user in costumes of the time, thus helping the user to travel through time in a playful way. The resulting image is a montage of the user’s face in a contemporary life scene, a person dressed in a typical folk costume. The design of the application is the result of a collaboration between our company and the museum, using graphic elements that match the exhibition.

With its latest development, the Méliusz Juhász Péter Library in Debrecen has introduced an innovation in document requests. The Library, in cooperation with our company and Líra Könyv Zrt., has set itself the goal of making books and other documents available for patrons to borrow as soon as possible after their publication.

For this, a demand-driven software has been developed to keep the library’s catalog in constant contact with the bookshop. This means that registered patrons can view and request documents in the catalog that are only available in bookshops. Once the request has been submitted, they can be obtained and borrowed within a short time. With the help of the software, newly published volumes can be made available for loan as quickly as patrons request them.

By searching for a document in the catalog, library patrons can visually distinguish between documents that are not available in the library but are in commercial circulation. Once logged in to the private interface, the “Submit Request” button becomes active, which can be pressed to start the acquisition process. The reader will receive an email with a confirmation of when he/she can borrow the document.

Beacons (bluetooth devices) have been installed for each of the 50+ outdoor models in the Park of a Thousand Years in Mórahalom. The Android application is designed to show the park through walking routes or in a ‘free wandering’ mode. While visiting the site, the information associated with miniatures is automatically displayed on the tablet by identifying the signal emitted by the beacon device. Stops on the routes also include a quiz question for the given model.

Altogether, a unique and spectacular application have been implemented, with a variety of topics belonging to each thematic route where the beacon signals associated with the models can be used to view the content associated with them.

2017-2018

Nemcsak a leíró adatokat, hanem magukat a forrásokat is elérhetővé teszi digitális formában, valamint a kutatás – részben a honlapon publikált – szöveges eredményeit is összekapcsolja a múzeum gyűjteményében található forrásokkal.

A digitális platform (szinhaztortenet.hu – mely hamarosan elérhető) további feladata, hogy olyan felületként működjön, melyet minden későbbi szakmai és tudományos publikáció referenciaként jelölhet meg, mivel az egyes előadásokról, színészekről, színházról fellelhető információ szakmailag alátámasztva, megszerkesztve tárul a közönség elé.

Together with the team of passionate professionals from Bistrița, Qulto developed a new concept of an interactive multi-media guide, that combines elements of augmented reality and audio-guide to transform the walk in the exhibit into a quest, a game-like experience.

The app, called Explore CMBN (CMBN being the acronym of the museum) is available on mobile devices and offers the visitor a wide series of information related to the museum history, the building itself, details on each department, each room and on the most important items in the exhibit. The content comes in the form of text, professional audio recordings, images and 3D scans. The guide is available both in English and Romanian, thus making the museum more accessible for tourists everywhere. After a short introduction and tutorial, the users have to scan the QR codes next to each room or object in order to get details on that specific collection or items. Unlike during a guided tour, visitors can focus on items that draw their attention. Moreover, items have keywords, based on area of interest or object category, so that a person interested in jewelries or weapons will get recommendations on that specific type of objects. The multi-media guide is just one component of a bigger project that Bistrița Museum Complex designed together with Qulto.

The project also involves using Qulto Museum software for the management of the collections, thus creating a database with complex metadata for more than 30000 museum objects. A public online catalogue of the most valuable items will soon be available.
